Important 10GBASE-BX BIDI Single-Mode Fiber Notice
This is a 10G SFP+ BIDI (B Side) 1330/1270nm single-mode module, compliant with IEEE 802.3ae, SFP+ MSA, SFF-8431, SFF-8472 and ITU-T G.694.2 standards. For full 10Gbps transmission up to 20km, 9/125μm OS1/OS2 single-mode fiber (simplex LC) is required. This B Side module (1330nm Tx/1270nm Rx) must be paired with an A Side module (1270nm Tx/1330nm Rx)—using two B Side modules or mismatched wavelengths will cause signal conflict and communication failure. Multimode or duplex fiber is not compatible. Note: For PA-5400 series devices, ensure SFP+ ports are configured correctly for 10Gbps operation and avoid improper port remapping.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I use this BIDI B Side module alone with Palo Alto Networks Firewall?
A: No. This B Side module (1330nm Tx/1270nm Rx) must be paired with an A Side module (1270nm Tx/1330nm Rx) per ITU-T G.694.2 standards. Using two B Side modules or mismatched wavelengths will cause signal conflict and communication failure.
Q: Will this show as an unknown device in Palo Alto PAN-OS?
A: No. It is fully programmed to avoid compatibility warnings and support normal monitoring in Palo Alto PAN-OS, including DOM/DDM data display.
Q: What fiber cable do I need?
A: 9/125μm OS1/OS2 single-mode fiber (simplex LC) is required for full 20km 10Gbps transmission. Only single-fiber transmission is supported; duplex or multimode fiber will cause signal loss and connection failure.
Q: Is there any note for deploying with Palo Alto Networks Firewall?
A: Yes. For PA-5400 series devices, ensure SFP+ ports are configured correctly for 10Gbps operation and avoid improper port remapping. Verify A/B side pairing with complementary wavelengths and ensure the fiber is properly terminated.
Q: Is this module compatible with all Palo Alto Networks Firewall 10G SFP+ ports?
A: Yes, it is fully compatible with all Palo Alto Networks Firewall models featuring 10G SFP+ ports. Suitable for cross-campus interconnection, remote enterprise sites, outdoor deployments and fiber-constrained long-distance scenarios.
